Any day now I expect a loud knock at my door.
A slick anti-gun government lawyer — armed with trumped-up legal complaints from Michael Bloomberg-backed gun control organizations and their pals in our General Assembly — will be grinning from ear-to-ear as he tells me, “SEE YOU IN COURT!”
Sadly, these ugly tactics are becoming commonplace across America today as anti-freedom forces routinely abuse our legal system to target those they disagree with.
With the critical November elections rapidly approaching — and whispers from Columbus growing louder by the day — I’m becoming more and more worried about being stuck with a frivolous legal assault.
It doesn’t matter that Ohio Gun Owners plays by the rules. It doesn’t matter that we don’t break laws (or even bend them) like so many other organizations.
After a contentions legislative session where you and I have (so far) successfully blocked the gun-grabbers’ attempts to RAM through H.B. 585, anti-gun Democrats and Republicans like gun-control bill sponsor Rep. Mike Henne (R-Clayton) are out for blood.
Governor John Kasich himself is blistering the General Assembly to pass so-called “Red Flag” Gun Seizures so that he can sign it into law before he’s term-limited out in January.
Knowing Ohio Gun Owners is going to go all-out to EXPOSE those legislators working on Kasich’s gun control schemes ahead of the November elections, the gun-grabbers are going to use EVERY tool at their disposal — including legal attacks — to try to shut us up and shut us down.
That’s why, as you’ll see below, I’ve linked to a brief three-question Ohio Gun Owners Member Ballot below for your review.
Won’t you please fill it out and submit it to me IMMEDIATELY?
The truth is, I simply must have your advice right away.
As it stands right now, I do not have the funds to fight back against the gun-grabbers’ legal assaults — AND run a full election year program — at the same time. So Ohio Gun Owners will be a sitting duck unless I can fix this problem — FAST.
After watching friendly state gun groups across the country face legal assaults like these, I have to be prepared.
Just last year, our sister organization in Iowa was hit with 47 pages of baseless charges by the Iowa General Assembly!
Why?
It was punishment for the Pro-Gun Omnibus Bill they forced into law (which included Stand-Your-Ground).
Thankfully, our sister organization won that case.
But it cost thousands in legal fees they would have much rather spent defending their Second Amendment freedoms.
Every few months, I hear a new story like this. I know it’s only a matter of time until Ohio Gun Owners is targeted.
With the gun-grabbers more emboldened than ever this election year — and members of BOTH parties working on gun control in the wake of the Parkland, Florida murders — it’s never been more important that you and I fight back with the biggest Candidate Survey results program we’ve ever conducted.
But I’m afraid a well-timed legal threat could end up shutting our election year programs down!
Sadly, I’m afraid this kind of nonsense just goes with the territory.
And worse, it’s all designed to get good folks like you and me to stop “bothering” our “poor politicians.”
That way they can whittle away at our most cherished freedoms without ever having to worry about answering to the voters back home!
I’ve never, ever believed that’s the way politics should work — not for a second.
I still believe politicians work for us, not the other way around.
Without organizations like Ohio Gun Owners out there to call politicians to the carpet for their records, I shudder to think how many MORE of our freedoms would have already been tossed by the wayside.
That’s why they want to shut OGO up so badly ahead of November 2018.
The gun-grabbers know that the moment politicians stop fearing backlash from the folks back home during election years, they’ll be free to go on a rampage attacking our Second Amendment freedoms.
Believing the media line that the political winds will be blowing their way this election year, they’re going all-out to seize control of our Governorship, make gains in BOTH houses of our State Legislature in Columbus and get down to business turning Ohio into a gun control “utopia” like California or New York.
Should they succeed, “Red Flag” gun confiscation orders won’t be all you and I have to worry about.
Instead, we’ll have our hands full stopping the gun-grabbers’ radical agenda for Ohio — including Statewide Gun Registration under the guise of “Universal Background Checks.”
The only way such a scheme can be enforced is if government keeps records of every gun and gun owner.
And as you and I know, registration is just the first step toward CONFISCATION!
That’s why Ohio Gun Owners’ 2018 election year program has never been more important.
In fact, until just a few days ago, my hope was to run the biggest program in our history leading up to the November elections — using mail, emails, Internet ads, and even hard-hitting newspaper, radio and TV ads if I could raise the money to pay for them.
But I’m afraid, as it stands right now, I won’t be able to fund both a full-scale legal defense AND this election year effort.
I know we’ve done nothing wrong.
But I can’t imagine just sitting back and hoping I don’t run into an anti-gun judge or prosecutor in the courtroom.
I have to prepare for the worst — or else, I could be a sitting duck.
So I need you to tell me what to do:
OPTION #1: Should I ignore the legal threats, hope nothing bad happens and go all-in with a full-scale election year program?
OPTION #2: Should I just give in to the gun-grabbers, cut off all of Ohio Gun Owners’ election year programs and put all my focus into these frivolous legal threats? But if I choose this option, I know I’ll just be emboldening them to try it again and again in the future.
OPTION #3: Or should I FIGHT BACK on all fronts and keep my legal and election year programs running at full blast?
I know what I want to do. But I don’t have millions of dollars sitting around in the bank like BILLIONAIRE Michael Bloomberg and his pals.
Ohio Gun Owners is run on a shoestring budget. OPTION #3 just really isn’t an “option” without a massive and IMMEDIATE influx of funds from Ohio Gun Owners members and supporters.
I know that for some, $100 is a lot to give. But the stakes couldn’t be higher.
Of course, if $100 is just too much, won’t you please agree to $20 or at least $25 IMMEDIATELY?
With the November elections right around the corner and critical races heating up, I need to hear from you right away.
Please fill out your Ohio Gun Owners Member Ballot and rush it back to me IMMEDIATELY.
Sincerely,
Chris Dorr
Executive Director
