On Wednesday afternoon, the Ohio Senate voted House Bill 86 out of the Senate and on to Governor DeWine for signing by a vote of 23-9!
House Bill 86 fixes last year’s HB228 by preventing common firearms from becoming categorized as “dangerous ordnance,” and will prevent people who own them from becoming targets for anti-gun prosecutors.
Clearing this final legislative hurdle (but it still has to pass the governor’s signature pen, yet!) in only two and a half weeks since Ohio Gun Owners exploded this issue onto the statewide stage is a huge accomplishment that was only made possible through YOUR actions!
Your calls, your emails, your social media messages and your conversations on the phone with your state representatives and state senators – compounded by tens of thousands of gun owners across our state joining with you – are directly responsible.
But with Governor DeWine’s signature deadline date of March 28th approaching quickly, we can’t let off the gas now.
That’s why I’m urging you to do two things right away:
●●● First, please contact Governor DeWine right away and urge him to sign HB86 into law immediately!
As you’ll see, we’ve already loaded up our Action Center tool and programed it to send an email directly to the governor’s office.
Just a few clicks, press submit, and you’re done.
●●● Second, I need to ask you for your most generous contribution right away.
If Governor DeWine signs HB86 into law, it will be a victory in the sense that we’ve all protected rights that we already enjoyed prior to the passage of HB228 last year.
But Ohio Gun Owners has been gearing up for a major push to advance huge, major bills like Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law in this General Assembly.
Sadly, the battle to pass corrective language to fix last year’s disastrous error in HB228 forced us to divert resources we were budgeting to pass the pro-gun bills that you deserve, like Stand-Your-Ground law.
We need to recapitalize quickly because the fight to pass pro-gun bills starts the moment DeWine signs HB86 into law!
That’s why I’m asking you to be as generous as your budget can afford.
No amount is too small, and no amount is too large.
It is clear that gun owners are becoming a major political force to be reckoned with in our General Assembly, but Ohio Gun Owners isn’t going to stop now.
Every dime you contribute to Ohio Gun Owners goes to the fight for gun rights right here in our state – not some office a thousand miles away.
We’re working hard to grow a grassroots army of engaged, mobilized gun owners like you in every corner of Ohio, and your contributions go directly to that effort.
I can’t thank you enough for your support already, and I cannot thank you enough for all the actions you’ve taken in the last two weeks.
Please contact Governor DeWine’s office and urge him to sign HB86 into law, and when you’re finished please consider making a contribution to Ohio Gun Owners!
